Japan

Japanís health care system has been highly successful with most health indicators, such as life expectancy and the under-five mortality rate being amongst the very best in the world, and continues to improve rapidly. The health disparities within the country are relatively small compared with those in other industrialized nations. Although since the 1980s, with advancement of the ageing society, the disease patterns have shifted to lifestyle-related diseases such as cancer, heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, diabetes, etc. Japan was covered in Equitap 1, and these results are being updated in Equitap 2.
